Hi everyone!
This has never been an issue for me before, but since I installed Steam i'm not sure whats right anymore.

So here is my idea on how to set up a firewall/router to get things to work, and I very much would like that anyone confirm that this is the correct setting.

First I can say that my network is one firewall/router and two machines behind. One is running the Steam Dedicated server and the other is Steam Client.

Theese are the ports you need to open.

First basic ports, theese must be opened in the firewall.

UDP 1200
UDP 27000 to 27015
TCP 27030 to 27039

In order to have a operating steamserver that is accessible from Internet you also must make a port forward:
UDP 25015 -> Internal Steam Dedicated server

To have the banlist communication to work you need:
UDP 27011 -> Internal Steam Dedicated server
(But I'm not sure about this..)

My main confusion is regarding the port forward.
The steam FAQ only says what ports needs to be open.. not what ports needs to be portmapped if one is sitting behind a nat-firewall.

So.. to make it short :o
-"What portmappings is needed if running both server and client behind a nat-firewall?"

Regards, Magnus

The majority of ports are all outgoing >> which means that your computers need to be able to access specific ports for authentication etc.. you shouldn't have a problem with that unless you've got ports blocked from accessing the internet ( which i doubt since you're asking ).

All you need to broadcast your server is 27015/udp > IN OPEN
