Hello,
I run a server using Windows XP, and what I am hoping to do is make it so that people can connect to port 120 as well as port 27015, maybe using some kind of port forwarding. One of our players goes to a school that for some reason will not let them connect to high ports, but lower ports are ok (I know it is weird). Does anyone know how I can do this through Windows XP, some software, or anything else? Please help, thanks alot!
Adam.

Nothing you can do on this one. If the port isn't open in the first place, nothing can make you connect to port :27015 for example..

You'll just have to try running it off a port which is open on this one, or, ask your network admin to open it for you ;)

I may have worded that confusingly...
I can run the server off of port 27015 fine, and I do. I want connecting to port 120 to work as well, if possible. In other words, the server will be running on 27015, but if you connect to port 120, that will work as well. This still may not be possible, I'm not sure, but it seems like it definately should be.

Afaik, the same hlds process cannot be run off more than one port simultainously. It means that you have to start two servers, (one on each port) and your "player@school" will connect to a diffrent server than the one everybody else is probably playing on. Nothing wrong with having more than one server running, but you all have to join the one at port 120 then.

I'm not sure about this, but I think hlds only can run on port 270xx ?? Besides I think ports 1 to 1024 is priveliged ports that can write to your disk. Please confirm someone. So it would be a bad idea even if it worked.

You COULD set up a router to forward port 210 to 27015 on your local network. It would work. You can find info on that with most popular routers and firewalling programs here (http://server.counter-strike.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=37).
If you set it up like this, your XP server will think everybody's connecting on port 27015, wich hlds runs off. The only box knowing what's really going on would be your router.

But the best solution is, as mentioned, to ask teh servergeek at the school to open the ports you need on the network. For a list of those ports, scan the forum

You mentioned firewalling programs... could I use such a program to do this without a router? And if so, does anyone know of any free ones that would work?

If your router supports port triggering, you can use that to accomplish 120 |> 27015.
