Anyone know about Microsoft Networking?

The possiblities of port forwarding are nice,
Application-Triggered Forwarding
OR
Persistent Forwarding

The server is/has always shown on the network, the wireless connected computers ping 10> and hardwired 5> its not bad.

I chose Persistent Forwarding and have opened ports
27040 UDP/TCP
27015 UDP/TCP
27010 UDP/TCP
27005 UDP/TCP
7002 UDP/TCP

Servers up and running on GameTiger, doesn't show up when adding IP to CS internet servers though.

Anyone know whats up?

There's plenty of ways you can do this in windows.. but we'll need a lil more info from you.

What solution are you using? ICS/Win2k Router/NAT, etc. Configuration of gateway/clients blah blah blah.

Well..

Dedicated server running off hardwired to base station
No firewall active on either the sytem OR the base station
I've now opened every port number I've seen involving running a dedicated server they are:

27040 UDP/TCP
27016 UDP/TCP
27015 UDP/TCP
27012 UDP/TCP
27010 UDP/TCP
27005 UDP/TCP
7002 UDP/TCP
5273 UDP/TCP

NM it will be much easier if i just take some captures...

and..
i can go into the internet connection properties on the server computer and it shows that those ports ARE open..
I think I have a permanent firewall I can never get rid of.
I even took off all security and I still can't send files over the internet or host this server on the internet successfully.
The game shows as being available but in CS it cannot be joined as an internet game, ONLY a LAN game.

Ok, you seem to have part of it setup correctly.. but you don't need all of them ports open, just 27015 UDP for inbound connections. Also, change the forwarding IP to .100 instead of .27 >> see later on for how to change the servers IP address, and assign it statically.

From looking at one of them screenshots, it looks like you might have the LAN ip address wrong which you're forwarding to ( that's why i don't bother using DHCP, because it's really only useful, and necessary in large networks. )

First thing to do:

*On that range where you've put 27015 and left the second box blank, put 27015 in, because that may be causing a problem -- if you have range options like that, some routers don't like you not isolating the definition. Make sure you update it to point to .100!

* Next, the computer that's going to be hosting hlds needs a static IP address assigning so, do the following:

Your subnet id is: 192.168.2.0/24

So, configure the NIC as follows:

IP- 192.168.2.100 ( keep things simple ffs ;) )
subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
gateway - 192.168.2.1

DNS 1# 24.28.131.62
DNS 2# 24.28.131.63

---------------------

If Using XP:

If you don't have any other firewall tunning, other than the natual NAT firewall, then just check that you don't have the built-in firewall activated if you're running XP. Or, if you want to be safe, just add the rule in there, too.

If you still have problems, jump on msn and I'll take a look remotely for you. msn id same as email address. Yes, i'm in a nice mood today

Justed probed your network for a sec, and that port is now responding on your ip address *cheers*
