View Full Version : Still no luck. I've opened ports And tried DMZ

I can't get anything to work! My hlds screen still says it's in secure mode and it doesn't show that it's connected to WON at all. I do have version 1.0.1.4 of hlds...the one that came with DoD. What am I doing wrong?

retail dod doesnt have one bit of won in it.. its all valve's system with the retail DOD.

youll prolly have to download hlserver seperately

How would I do that? (I'm doing this for a friend...so I don't know much about the game)

Grab the latest official release of hlds from the downloads page on counter-server, download the DOD mod install from dod's site, and then install them both.

We can't help you with configuration with DOD, but it's as easy to setup as CS is.

Let me get this straight...if you have Half-Life, then you can download DoD as a mod, or you can by it by itself. Now you can host dedicated servers with the DoD mod...and DoD retail can play in them?

Correct. Retail versions make lousy servers. You can download hlds (half-life dedicated server which is free) and the DoD mod (http://dayofdefeat.net also free) to host a server. These files will not double as client software replacements.

If you own retail Half-Life or a retail mod of HL then you can download any of the mods available for it to play. Right now you only need to purchase one copy of HL, or a mod, which contains a cd key to play any of the HL mods.

Hey, thanks guys! It works! I went back over there...saw that he had Half-Life, but no DoD mod. I don't understand why he wouldn't just download the mod. But anyways, after a few more tweaks, we finally got it to work. It still shows the internal ip, but it can be found online, which is awesome. So thanks again! If you want to delete this thread or lock it, go ahead.
